I’m doing Cringetober this year and the first prompt was ”gijinka.” So of course I made another Ghost Castle character lol

He does not get along with knight commander Aegislash on account of being an underachiever and holding grudges…

Their writer says:

the only solution would be to fight cringe with cringe, and Banette has PLENTY of embarrassing little secrets no matter the route (mostly involving his big fat crush on Tina). Gengar could just vaguely threaten to reveal that thing without ever being too specific, and Banette would fall for it, hook line and sinker. a truce has been reached! thank heavens this puppet is not too bright!!!!!!!

Fun fact: after the events of the game, the castle is not the best place for Dreav and Cof to be… so to escape THAT heat, they take a trip to the hot hot desert (Cof’s home turf, many years ago). Dreav is eager to learn about ancient Pokemon ruins, and Cof gets to run around off-leash and burn off some of that chaotic energy. Everyone wins!

Exploring tombs is dangerous work, though! They have to stick together… and watch each other’s backs ୧ʕ•̀ᴥ•́ʔ୨

Hell yeah, love those weirdos. I asked their writer and got:

• dreav wants both of them to look their best — how can they be intimidating or respected if cof looks shabby and/or is still covered in coffin dust?? dreav definitely gives him pampering personal care, whether cof wants it or not. cleaning and cutting his (sharp!!!) nails, trimming his beard… cof won’t stfu and mocks it the whole time, except when dreav puts products in his hair. dreav has very deft small hands and is very practiced at ~ grooming ~ so it feels nice. cof kind of zones out and lets it happen… (distant big cat purrrrrrr)
• everything in dreav’s room IS actually cof’s, including the bed. dreav could only berate and shove him for so long (or sleep on the fancy fainting couch, or ask Tina for help, but it’s the principle of the thing) before just giving up and sharing. its a big bed, anyways >:/ and cof is weirdly warm for a ghost, so
• they bicker like an old married couple, so most random ghosts around the castle assume it’s that sort of situation. their arguing sounds more like weird flirting the more one listens in. but no one wants to ask or interact with them at all, so. a castle mystery???

• Banette never really loses his hero worship of Tina; it sort of gets worse? He gets mad that tina only goes feral on Gengar and demands to experience it and gengar is like “um…. buddy. i dunno if you would survive that” and then has to play sexy vampire referee
• Gengar cannot for the LIFE of him understand the appeal of Aegislash but if it makes Chandey happy then so be it
• tina: do you think me asking chandelure to tea is an abuse of power
  gengar: after everything that happens in this damn ass castle, THAT’S your limit?!?!?!?!????????????

Yeah! Really, you can basically assume the three routes happen at the same time… the true end is all of them… They are all kissing 🤣

Personally tho I love old men so chandelure/aegislash is my secret otp. LOL!!!!

Hehe, tying small details together like that is my favorite :) It’s cute to me that Banette kept his hairstyle like that even when the truth came out. For all the yelling and slapstick, they’re very close.

Of course! Here’s what happens:

• Banette spends months and months making Tina plushies. He gets really good at it but always nitpicks each attempt, not considering them good enough.
• Gengar eventually tires of watching this. He swipes Banette’s latest Tina plush and shows it to Tina. “Hey look! I made this :)”
• Banette takes the bait, swats the plush out of Gengar’s hands. “NO!! I MADE IT!!!”. Realizes he’s outed himself in front of Tina, is sulky-embarrassed, hands it over.
• Tina is delighted (well, for Tina). He praises Banette’s hard work, then pulls out textbooks that show ancient Hisuian cave art replicas. He explains that Banette’s wonky depiction is actually in keeping with ancient Tina-worship tradition where they didn’t REALLY know what he looked like, were drawing him based on secondhand accounts, yadda yadda.
